UPDATE: The City of El Monte Business Grant Update #2

Greetings El Monte Business Owners:

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during this difficult time.

The latest update as of May 18, 2020, is the following:

City staff has been successful in issuing $90,000 in assistance to our business community with an additional $100,000 approved (pending signed grant agreements)

To assist us in the approval process for the remaining available grants, we ask all business owners to promptly respond to staff inquiries for supporting documentation. Our goal is to be able to provide a check within 10 working days for those applicants that have been approved and whose fully executed grant agreements are received.

As of 12:00 pm today, the City has received 824 business grant applications. If you have applied and received a confirmation email, your application has been assigned a priority number and filed in the order it was received. The attached spreadsheet is the current status for submitted applications and will be updated regularly.

The City of El Monte is currently exploring different avenues to replenish and expand the Employer Assistance Grant Fund with potential Federal and State funding. The City would like to strongly encourage all applicants to call and email their State Assembly and Congressional Representatives to request more funding for Local Governments to fund these desperately needed programs.

If you are still in need of information on available Federal, State, and County assistance programs please visit the Business Resource Center webpage. The BRC is periodically updated whenever information becomes available.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

Be well and best of luck,
Alma K. Martinez, City Manager

For Grant Applicants:

How can I make sure my application is processed fairly and in the order it was received?
All grant applicants received an email confirmation upon submission of their application. That email contains a recap of your application answers plus a “Submission Timestamp.” Your “Submission Timestamp” is your place in line on which applications get reviewed.

What if I lost or can’t find my “Submission Timestamp”?
You can contact the El Monte Business Resource Center at (626) 258-8670 or ElMonteBusinesses@ElMonteCA.Gov  or Virtual City Hall at https://monte.campaignrep.org/page/business-and-employment-resource-center during regular business hours. Provide us with your name, email and business name and we will email you a copy of your email confirmation submission.
