COVID-19 Testing For El Monte Residents
El Monte is launching a new coronavirus testing site that will only be open to residents on Thursdays, starting July 30.
Testing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at 3130 Tyler Ave. in the El Monte Community Center parking lot.
Residents must register online through El Monte’s virtual City Hall website.
The city has partnered with the Regan Career Institute, an El Monte-based vocational school, to host the new testing site. According to City Manager Alma Martinez, the medical trade school was a recipient of the city’s $10,000 business grant program and wanted to host a testing site for El Monte residents.
The new coronavirus testing site is the second in El Monte. Testing at the San Gabriel Valley airport opened in April and is run by Los Angeles County. But still, Martinez said she City Council members and city staff believe it’s important to make testing as accessible as possible for residents.
“As cases increase in El Monte, as in other communities, we wanted to have a dedicated testing resource for El Monte families,” Mayor Andre Quintero said in a statement.
El Monte had 2,853 coronavirus cases as of Monday, July 27, according to data from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
This new testing site is El Monte’s latest endeavor to help its residents during the coronavirus pandemic.
